9x12 wool area rugs in modern designs — hand-knotted, hand-tufted, and hand-loomed in premium New Zealand wool by master artisans in Bhadohi, India. The large living room standard: generous seating groups, 8-person dining tables, and king bedroom full coverage. Every design available in custom sizes.

9x12 Rugs: The Large Room Standard

The 9x12 is the step up from the 8x10 — the right size when all legs of the seating group need to be on the rug, when the dining table is long enough to require more than 8 feet of rug, or when the king bedroom calls for full perimeter coverage rather than the front-two-thirds placement an 8x10 typically serves. In a living room, a 9x12 all-legs-on creates a more formal, anchored effect than front-legs-on — the seating group sits entirely on the rug, contained and defined. In a dining room, it accommodates an 8-person table with 24 inches of chair clearance on all sides. Under a king bed, it shows 24 inches or more on the sides and foot — full coverage that warms the entire perimeter of the room.
