The rug industry sends more than 2.4 million tons of product to landfill every year, most of it synthetic, replaced every three to five years. Jubi was set up to work differently: every rug is made after it's ordered, from a natural fiber, to a standard that keeps it on the floor for decades.

Every Jubi rug is made after it's ordered, for a specific room and a specific home. One order, one rug: nothing overproduced, nothing warehoused, nothing wasted.
Built to Last Decades
A handmade wool rug is built for decades of daily use: dense construction, a fiber that wears in rather than out, and hand-bound edges made to be walked on. Durability is the most effective form of sustainability there is, and it's the standard every Jubi rug is made to.
Natural Materials
Our rugs are made from New Zealand wool, a renewable fiber shorn annually and biodegradable at the end of its long life. It needs no flame retardants, no stain-guard coatings, and no adhesives that off-gas into a room: the material is non-toxic by default.

Fifty-five of more than 1,200 wool colors, every batch dyed to order for a single rug.
Jubi's approach to sustainability is built into the production model rather than applied to it afterward. Natural materials, made-to-order manufacturing, and a genuine artisan partnership are not sustainability initiatives. They are the way we make rugs, and the environmental consequences are worth being specific about.
Natural Materials
Every Jubi rug is made in premium New Zealand wool, a natural, renewable, and biodegradable fiber. Wool requires no petrochemical inputs to produce; it grows on sheep raised on pasture, is shorn annually, and is processed through washing and spinning before it reaches the loom. At the end of a rug's life, wool decomposes naturally.
New Zealand wool is naturally fire-resistant without chemical treatment, naturally stain-resistant due to its lanolin content, and naturally hypoallergenic. Made to Order
Jubi operates on a made-to-order model. We don't produce inventory speculatively and we don't hold warehouse stock that becomes waste when it doesn't sell. Every rug is produced in response to an actual order, which means every rug that is made has a home to go to. The environmental impact of production is not amplified by overproduction. This is a straightforward consequence of the custom model rather than a sustainability program, but its effect is the same: less waste at every stage of the process.
Artisan Partnership
Every Jubi rug is made by master artisans in Bhadohi, India. Our production relationship in Bhadohi is a genuine partnership, one that supports the continuation of craft knowledge developed over generations and provides sustainable livelihoods for the artisans and their families. The handwoven construction that makes a Jubi rug what it is requires skilled human hands, a meaningful distinction in an industry where automation has displaced craft at scale.

What We Don't Claim
We're specific about what our sustainability claims are and aren't. We make rugs from natural materials using a made-to-order model with artisan partners — those are the facts. We don't claim carbon neutrality, offsetting programs, or certifications we haven't earned. The most sustainable thing a rug company can do is make rugs that last for decades rather than years, from materials that don't damage the environments they're used in. That's what we try to do.
