12 Foot Runner Rugs: Long Hallway, Gallery, Staircase

Twelve feet marks the transition from a standard residential hallway runner to a longer format that begins to serve gallery halls, open staircases, and passages in larger homes where the corridor runs well past what a 10-foot runner covers. A 12-foot runner lays down a meaningful design statement — at this length, the runner is a significant visual element of the space, not just a floor protector or accent.

For staircase applications, 12 feet covers an open staircase run of about 12 to 14 steps depending on rise height. The runner should be long enough to extend from the bottom of the first riser to the top of the last tread.
