Color Block Rugs: Design Through Division

Color blocking is one of the most direct design moves available: take two or more colors, put them next to each other in distinct, unblended fields, and let the relationship between them do the work. No gradients, no pattern, no visual complexity to manage — just color, proportion, and the energy created by adjacency. In fashion, color blocking is a statement. In interior design, it's a grounding principle. A color block rug defines the floor in a way that a patterned rug or a solid rug does differently: it creates zones within the rug itself, which in turn creates visual structure in the room above.

Jubi's color block rugs are handwoven by master artisans in Bhadohi, India, in premium New Zealand wool. The Classic Color Block Hand-Tufted Wool Rug is the most direct expression of the form — two or three distinct color fields in a bold, clean horizontal arrangement. The Terracotta Block Hand-Tufted Wool Rug takes the principle in an earth-toned direction — warm blocks of terracotta, cream, and ochre that read as bold but grounded.
