Round wool area rugs in modern designs — hand-knotted and hand-tufted in premium New Zealand wool by master artisans in Bhadohi, India. For dining tables, reading nooks, circular entries, and rooms where the round format is the right geometric choice. Every design available in custom sizes.

Round Rugs: When the Format Is the Design Decision

A round rug changes a room differently than a rectangular one does. Where a rectangle aligns with the architecture — reinforcing the right angles of walls, furniture, and floor — a circle introduces contrast. It softens. It draws attention to the center of a space rather than the perimeter. Used deliberately, a round rug is one of the most considered design moves available for a floor, and one of the rarest: most rug collections treat the round format as an afterthought, offering a limited selection of designs that didn't quite make the rectangular range.

Where Round Rugs Work Best

Under a round dining table, a circular rug is the natural choice. The sizing rule is consistent with rectangular dining placement: the rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond the table edge so chairs remain on the rug when pulled out for seating. For a standard 4-person round table at 48 inches in diameter, an 8-foot round rug provides comfortable chair clearance. Larger tables need proportionally larger rugs.

In a reading nook or under a single accent chair, a round rug defines the space without the hard edges that a small rectangle would impose. In a circular foyer or entry rotunda, a round rug aligns with the room's own geometry in a way that only works with this format.
