The wave runs along the top and bottom edges and then again just inside them, so a scalloped rug that could have been a plain rectangle instead ripples twice, once at the silhouette and once at the seam where the two tones meet. It comes in four pairings: oxblood inside dusty rose, golden wheat inside deep aubergine, powder blue inside navy, and deep teal inside aqua. The lighter tone takes the field in some and the border in others, which changes the whole weight of the rug without changing the drawing. Designed in New York and hand-tufted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a 0.75 inch pile that gives the carved wave its soft, dimensional edge. Made to order in any size and any of over 1,200 wool colors. Each piece is ready in 2 to 3 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen over time. Vacuum regularly with the beater bar set to the highest setting. If loose ends appear, clip with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning only. See our rug care guide for more tips.

Shipping: Tufted rugs are handmade to order and typically take 2–3 weeks to produce and dispatch. Once shipped, delivery takes 3–5 business days via DHL Express. We offer complimentary worldwide shipping on all rugs.

Returns: Rugs may be returned within 15 days of delivery. A restocking fee may apply. Read our return policy for full details.

Why a Scalloped Rug Softens a Straight Room

Most rooms are built from straight lines: walls, cabinetry, the edge of a sofa. A rug is one of the few elements that does not have to agree with them, and a scalloped rug is the simplest way to interrupt that run of right angles without adding pattern or noise.

Scallop does it twice. The wave shapes the top and bottom edges of the rug itself, so the silhouette is never quite a rectangle, and it returns just inside as the seam between the two tones. The sides stay straight, and that is what keeps the piece practical: it still sits square against a wall or beneath a sofa, and only the ends give.

That combination is easier to place than a fully free-form shape. Set it under a coffee table where both waved ends stay visible, or at the foot of a bed where the ripple reads across the width.

Hand-tufting is what allows the edge. The wool is set by hand and the outline cut to the drawn curve, then sheared so the wave holds a clean line rather than a stepped one.
