Handwoven Wool Area Rugs Designed in New York, Made in Bhadohi

Jubi rugs begin as designs developed in a New York studio and are produced by master artisans in Bhadohi, India — the weaving region that has produced some of the world's finest handmade rugs for generations. Every piece in the collection is handwoven in premium New Zealand wool: a material chosen for its exceptional dye absorption, natural resilience, and the tactile quality that sets handwoven wool apart from synthetic alternatives. The result is a rug that is contemporary in design and genuine in craft — a combination that is rarer than it should be.

The collection spans a deliberate range: geometric and organic, solid and patterned, rectangular and shaped. Designs move between the architectural and the fluid — from precise hand-knotted grids to organic sculpted-edge pieces whose silhouette is as considered as the pattern within it. Every piece is available in custom sizes and colors, and the bespoke service handles projects that require something beyond what the collection offers.

Construction: Hand-Knotted, Hand-Tufted, Hand-Loomed

Jubi's collection spans three handwoven constructions, each with distinct characteristics. Hand-knotted rugs are the most labor-intensive — each knot tied individually by an artisan, producing the densest pile and the most durable surface in the collection. Hand-tufted rugs are made by artisans working a tufting tool through a backing material, with each tuft placed by hand — a method that allows more complex color distribution and a wider range of pile heights. Hand-loomed pieces are woven on traditional looms, producing a flatter, more textile-like surface with particular softness underfoot. Explore all three through rugs by construction or read a fuller comparison at types of rugs.

Material: Premium New Zealand Wool

All Jubi rugs are handwoven in premium New Zealand wool — sourced specifically for its long staple length, natural lanolin content, and consistent fiber quality. New Zealand wool holds dye with a dimensional depth that shorter-staple wools and synthetic fibers don't achieve: the color reads differently in different light, with the natural variation in fiber diameter creating a surface that is visually alive rather than flat. It is naturally resilient — pile springs back under foot traffic — and naturally stain-resistant, with lanolin repelling liquid at the surface before it can penetrate the fiber. Custom Sizes and the Bespoke Service

Every design in the collection is available in a custom size and color through the online customizer. For projects that require something beyond the customizer's range — original design commissions, non-standard shapes, commercial installations, or trade projects with specific briefs — the bespoke service works directly with you from concept to completed piece. Interior designers and architects can access dedicated pricing and studio support through the Jubi trade program.
