Forest Green Oval Hand-Tufted Wool Rug

A forest green round rug gathers a deep, muted pine into one circle, the color dark and slightly grey, closer to a conifer at dusk than to a bright leaf green. With no corners and no pattern, the curve does the drawing and the tone does the settling, so the rug reads as a still pool of dark color that softens the angles around it. Designed in New York and hand-tufted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a 0.75 inch pile that stays level across the whole circle and gives bare feet a dense, cushioned surface. Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen over time. Vacuum regularly with suction only (brushless head, no beater bar). If loose ends appear, clip with scissors (do not pull). Layering a Green Round Rug Over a Larger Flatweave

Layering is one way people get a round rug to do two jobs at once. Set a Forest Green round on a larger, paler rug, a jute, a sisal, or a flatweave, and the dark circle marks a smaller zone inside the bigger one: the chair and side table by the window, the crib in a nursery, the low table between two sofas. The base rug ties the room together; the round says where to sit.

Two things make the pairing work. The first is contrast in value, and a deep grey-cast green over a natural or cream base gives plenty of it. The second is proportion: the circle should look deliberate, roughly a third to a half the width of the rug beneath it, and centered on the piece of furniture it serves, not on the room.
