A scalloped rug works differently from a plain rectangle. The wavy, rounded edge draws the eye along its rhythm instead of stopping it at a corner, which softens a room with hard architecture and pairs naturally with curved furniture and low, modern seating. On an oval like Halo Burst, that scalloped halo wraps a calm center, so the piece feels both lively at the edge and restful in the middle. Float it under a round table where the curves echo each other, or set it in an entry where the bursting border greets the room first.
Hand-tufting is what lets the scallops hold their shape. Working from the back of a stretched canvas, artisans set New Zealand wool through the foundation by hand, then carve and shear the surface so the halo stands cleanly against the open field. That definition is hard to reach in a flat weave, which is why the technique suits a design built on a rounded, repeating edge.
