An arch rug like Vault borrows from architecture, trading sharp corners for soft, rounded frames that repeat inward. That nested geometry does something a plain rectangle cannot: it carries the eye toward a center, giving a room a sense of focus and depth. It settles naturally beneath a low coffee table, anchors a reading corner, or grounds the foot of a bed where the curved outlines read clearly from above. The deeper the ground and the paler the lines, the more the layered frames seem to recede, which is why the design rewards a high-contrast palette.
Hand-tufting is what lets the design hold that precision. Working from the back of a stretched canvas, artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through the foundation by hand, then shear the surface so the pale outlines stay crisp against the deeper ground. The 0.75 inch pile keeps it plush underfoot while the lines stay clean.
