A tile rug built on interlocking blocks reads differently in an oval than a rectangle. Without corners to define it, the eye follows the composition inward, so the carved facets and warm earth tones become the focal point rather than a hard frame. That makes an oval an easy fit under a round table, where the shape echoes the furniture above it, or in an entry and hallway where a rectangle would feel boxed in. The continuous edge also lets the rug sit slightly proud of a furniture grouping without drawing a line across the floor.
Hand-tufting is what gives Neutral Mosaic its relief. Working from the back of a stretched canvas, artisans set New Zealand wool through the foundation by hand, then carve and shear the surface so the ribbed blocks stand apart from the smooth ones. That sculpted contrast is hard to achieve in a flat weave, which is why the technique suits a design built on texture and depth.
