A round abstract rug asks for a slightly different eye than a rectangle. Because there are no corners to align to walls, scale it to the thing it anchors: a round dining table wants roughly four feet of rug beyond its edge so chairs stay on the pile, while a round rug under a coffee table can sit smaller and simply hold the seating group together. Rolling Tides suits the circle especially well, since its contour lines already move in soft, looping ripples that echo the form. Hand-tufting builds that depth by hand, with master artisans in Bhadohi setting New Zealand wool through a stretched canvas and then carving the surface so each band stands in relief, a sculpted effect a flat weave cannot hold. Pair it with rounded furniture and low seating to keep the whole room reading soft, and remember a circle reads larger than a rectangle of the same nominal size. A round rug is also a natural fit for an awkward corner or the base of a spiral stair, where a rectangle would leave the geometry fighting the room.
