Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Ledger is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Proportion and Margin: How Much Floor to Leave Around a Geometric Rug

Ledger is a rug about margins, so the margin around it matters more than usual. Its outer border is already a frame; leave too little floor beyond it and the room gains a second frame fighting the first. Aim for a consistent band of exposed floor on all sides, roughly a foot to eighteen inches in a living room, so the rug's own border reads as the deliberate edge. Under a dining table, size it so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out, and let the center panel line up with the tabletop so the bars fall where the chairs sit.

Hand-tufting in our Bhadohi studio gives every block a clean, sheared edge. New Zealand wool is set through the backing by hand and cut to a single height, so each band meets the next as a change of color on one plush surface, which is what keeps the nesting crisp. Because the bands hold their width as the rug grows, the proportions you see in a small size carry to a large one.

Ledger belongs to our Geometric Rugs and to our Runner Rugs. In the Customizable Rugs collection you set its custom colors layer by layer, then enter the exact dimensions and shape. Each rug is tufted to your numbers.
