Frequently Asked Questions

What should I send to get started?

A brief, room photo, approximate dimensions, references, sketches, finished artwork, or floor plans are all useful. You do not need a fully developed concept to begin.

What counts as a client-supplied design?

A client-supplied design has a substantially resolved composition that can be prepared for rug production without Jubi creating a new design. If significant composition or concept development is needed, we’ll recommend an Original Design Commission before work begins.

Can you make oversized or irregular rugs?

Yes. Bespoke rugs can be developed to exact dimensions and non-standard shapes based on the requirements of the project.

Can you match a specific color?

Yes. Our studio works from a library of more than 3,000 wool colors and can develop a palette around a specific shade or reference.

Can I review samples before production?

Yes. Wool colors can be reviewed before ordering, and rug samples or strike-offs are available when a larger sample of the design or construction is useful.

How long does a bespoke rug take?

Timing depends on how much design development and sampling the project requires. Once approved for production, hand-tufted rugs are made in 3–4 weeks, and hand-knotted, hand-loomed and hand-woven rugs in 6–7 weeks. Shipping is free and takes about a week more.

Can I return a bespoke rug?

Bespoke rugs are made to your specification and are final sale. You approve the design, palette, size and construction before production begins, and can review wool colors or a strike-off first.

Do you work with designers and commercial projects?

Yes. We work directly with interior designers, architects, hospitality teams, brands, and other trade clients on individual and multi-rug commissions.

A bespoke commission is direct work with our studio on a rug that doesn’t exist in the collection yet. It begins with a brief, a sketch, or finished artwork, and ends with a rug designed in New York and handwoven to order in our Bhadohi studio, in New Zealand wool.

Two ways to begin

Original Design Commission. Our studio develops an original design from your brief: the composition, palette, and proportions for your space. Bring a room, references, dimensions, or a direction. The $300 design fee covers one original concept and two rounds of revisions.

Client-Supplied Design. You bring artwork or a rug design that is substantially resolved, and we prepare it for production, resolving scale, palette, and construction. A $150 deposit starts the work and is applied to the final rug order. If the artwork needs substantial new design work, we’ll recommend an Original Design Commission before any work begins.

What bespoke covers

  • Size and shape. Exact dimensions, oversized rugs, runners, stair runners, and irregular outlines drawn to a floor plan or the shape of a room.
  • Color. More than 3,000 wool colors through the studio, with matching to a specific shade or a Pantone or RAL reference.
  • Construction. Hand-knotted, hand-loomed, hand-woven, or hand-tufted, recommended for the design, the room, and how it will be used.
  • Commercial and branded work. Rugs for hotels, restaurants, offices, and retail, including logo and branded rugs, as single pieces or coordinated across several rooms.

How a commission works

Send the brief through the form above. The studio replies within 1–2 business days to confirm the route and the scope. Design or preparation follows, with wool colors and strike-offs available when it helps to see the palette or the construction before production. Nothing is made until you approve the design, size, palette, and construction.

Timing

Once approved for production, hand-tufted rugs are made in 3–4 weeks, and hand-knotted, hand-loomed, and hand-woven rugs in 6–7 weeks. Shipping is free worldwide, duties included, and takes about a week. Design development, approvals, and sampling can add time before production, and the studio confirms timing for your project. Bespoke rugs are made to your specification and are final sale.
