As a square geometric rug, Fieldwork balances its stacked bands and blocks within even proportions, so the composition sits centered and composed under a square seating group or in a room that calls for symmetry. The palette runs through espresso brown, deep burgundy, tan, and a bright orange accent, warm and grounded, so the geometry reads earthy and architectural within the square's even proportions. Designed in New York and hand-tufted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a 0.75 inch pile that gives the clean divisions a soft, even weight underfoot. Made to order in any square dimension, including oversized, and any of over 1,200 wool colors, so the scale and palette suit the room you have in mind. Each piece is ready in 2 to 3 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen over time. Vacuum regularly with the beater bar set to the highest setting. If loose ends appear, clip with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning only. See our rug care guide for more tips.

Shipping: Tufted rugs are handmade to order and typically take 2–3 weeks to produce and dispatch. Once shipped, delivery takes 3–5 business days via DHL Express. We offer complimentary worldwide shipping on all rugs.

Returns: Rugs may be returned within 15 days of delivery. A restocking fee may apply. Read our return policy for full details.

The Sketchbook

Behind The Design

Farmland from above is all worked order, tilled rows and planted blocks and the survey lines dividing one field from the next. Fieldwork chases that, everything squared off and deliberate, less a free drawing than a plan for a piece of ground.

Pencil design sketches for the Fieldwork hand-tufted wool rug, showing a grid of squared-off blocks framed by ruled borders and bands of parallel lines.

The Craft

Made the Long Way

Your rug doesn’t exist yet. It starts when you order: master artisans spin the wool, dye it to your color, then tuft and carve it by hand.

How a Square Geometric Rug Anchors a Room

A square geometric rug brings a different kind of balance than a rectangle, holding the center of a room with even weight on every side. Fieldwork suits square or symmetrical spaces, a conversation pit, a reading corner, a room where the furniture is arranged in a tight cluster, because its stacked bands and squared blocks echo the proportions of the format and settle the composition. Float it under a square coffee table so the blocks frame it, or center it beneath a four-chair arrangement so each seat sits on equal ground.

Hand-tufting gives the square its even surface. Artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a stretched foundation by hand, then shear the pile level so the bands and blocks meet at clean, true edges across the full width. That precision is what lets the geometry stay square at any scale.
