A runner asks a different question than an area rug: how long, and how much margin. For a hallway, a blue rug like Ombre Horizon works best with a few inches of bare floor on each side, so the gradient reads as a deliberate band of color down the center of the corridor rather than wall-to-wall covering. Leave a little floor at each end too, and let the deeper indigo at the ends frame the lighter middle. In a kitchen galley or a long entry, the same low pile keeps doors swinging clear and stands up to constant foot traffic.
Hand-looming keeps a long piece consistent. On the loom, artisans in Bhadohi weave New Zealand wool at a low, even height, so the ombre holds its smooth transition along the full length without pooling or banding. That evenness matters most in a runner, where the eye travels the whole length and any interruption in the color would show. The flat surface also lies stable underfoot, which keeps a long, narrow piece from shifting in a high-traffic corridor.
