Anchoring a Room with a Round Brown Rug
A round brown rug works where curves and corners meet, softening a space built on straight lines and giving a circular table or a rounded sofa a base that echoes its shape. The trick to sizing one is the table: let the rug extend well past the edge so chairs stay on the surface as they pull out, and in an open room, a generous diameter keeps the circle from looking marooned. A warm chocolate tone grounds the curve without weighing it down, pulling a palette of cream, camel, and wood together.
Hand-tufting lends itself to a clean round. Master artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a stretched foundation by hand, then shear it to an even 0.75 inch pile, so the color carries soft tonal movement smoothly around the full circle. A true circle is harder to achieve than a rectangle, since the edge has to curve evenly the whole way around, and tufting by hand from a stretched foundation is what makes that clean, continuous outline possible.
