A runner asks a geometric rug to do one thing well: carry the eye in a straight line. Orchard is built for it. Its staggered brick rows already move in a steady offset rhythm, so stretched into a runner the pattern reads as forward motion, pulling you down a hallway or along a kitchen galley. Leave a few inches of floor on either side so the olive-green border can frame the run, and pick a length that stops short of the doorway rather than crowding it. The raspberry and wine rows hold up well against the wear a corridor sees, while the blush and cream courses keep a long, narrow space from feeling heavy.
Hand-tufting is what gives the rows their depth. Artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a stretched foundation by hand, then carve and shear the surface so each brick stands in low relief underfoot. That carved texture wears well in the high-traffic spots a runner usually lives, and it gives a hallway floor something to feel as well as look at.
