Sizing a Square Ombre Rug
A square ombre rug asks a slightly different question than a rectangular one. Because the format is balanced on every side, the gradient in Tiers reads as a centered field of warmth rather than a directional run, which suits a room you want to anchor evenly. A square sits cleanly under a square or round coffee table, fills a symmetrical seating group, or defines a corner that a long rectangle would overshoot. The trick is matching the rug to the furniture footprint: leave a consistent border of floor on all four sides so the balance the square offers actually shows.
Hand-tufting gives the gradient its depth. Artisans set New Zealand wool through a stretched foundation by hand, then carve each rounded band so the amber-to-rust ombre stands in soft relief across the surface. That dimension is hard to achieve in a flat weave, which is why the technique suits a design built on graded color.
