An oval rug behaves differently from a rectangle. Its softened outline reads as movement, easing the hard lines of a room and settling comfortably under round and curved furniture. A solid oval doubles that effect: with no pattern to break the shape, the eye follows the unbroken curve, which makes it a natural anchor beneath a circular dining table, in a nursery, or floated in a bedroom where its edge can spill past the bed. A grounding tone like rust adds warmth, while a softer shade keeps the shape airy.
Hand-tufting suits the form well. Artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a stretched canvas by hand and shear it level, building the even, cushioned pile that lets a single color carry a curved outline cleanly. The result is a soft, continuous field with no seam in the color to interrupt the shape.
