A striped rug does a specific kind of work in a space: it sets a direction. Inverse Stripe carries that further by reversing its values across a center seam, so the vertical lines lead the eye down the length of the rug while the horizontal flip breaks the field into two clear halves. Run the stripes along the longer wall to stretch a narrow room, or turn them across to widen a compact one, using the seam to mark where seating begins and ends. Because the pattern is built on contrast rather than a single block of color, it pairs easily with solid upholstery and lets one tone in the rug echo a cushion or a wall.
Hand-tufting gives the stripes their character. Artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a backing by hand, then shear the surface level, which holds each line clean while keeping the pile soft and cushioned, warmer than a flatweave stripe. Explore more in our Striped Rugs collection, and every Jubi rug is made to order, so Inverse Stripe can be woven in the size and palette your room calls for.
