Jubi’s original palette for this design. Every wool in it can be changed above.

Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Block is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

A Geometric Rug as a Square, Runner, Round, or Oval

Terracotta Block is built on a grid of panels, so every outline in the Jubi Customizer gives you a different crop. As a square the three columns sit in balance and the piece reads as a single composed tile. As a runner the columns narrow and the panels lengthen, a sequence of ribbed and plain blocks down the hall. A round or an oval cuts the grid with a curve, so the panels at the perimeter lose their corners and the design reads softer.

The ribs catch light differently from the plain fields. Set a rectangle so a ribbed panel sits in the path of a window and the texture will show; keep the plain blocks under a sofa where they will be covered. The twelve panels take custom colors, so a palette can run tone on tone across the ribs or set a single panel in a deeper shade as the anchor.

Hand-tufting makes the ribs. In our Bhadohi studio the design is set through a backing by hand in New Zealand wool, then carved so each rib stands slightly proud of the field around it.
