Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Burst is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

A Scalloped Rug in Any Outline: Oval, Round, Square, Runner

Burst has no straight edge to begin with, which makes it a forgiving design to reshape. Its rings radiate from one center, so whatever outline you choose, the bloom sits in the middle and the pattern grows outward until it meets the edge you set. In an oval it reads as a single expanding ripple, the form it is best known for among our Oval Rugs. Made round, the rings become true circles, a natural fit under a pedestal table or in a square entry. As a runner the center lengthens and the rings nest toward either end, a lively answer to a hallway.

Hand-tufting is what lets the outline follow the pattern. In our Bhadohi studio the wool is set through the backing by hand, then sheared and carved so each ring rises above the ground, and the rug is cut along the outermost wave rather than along a rectangle. The same hands that carve the rings cut the scalloped edge.

Palette changes the mood as much as shape does: two close tones read as one soft bloom, while a dark ground under pale rings turns the design graphic. Custom colors are chosen in the Jubi Customizer, where Burst sits among our Customizable Rugs. Each one is cut to the outline and dimensions you enter.
