Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Interval is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Shaping a Striped Rug to the Room in the Jubi Customizer

A striped rug usually arrives with its direction decided. Interval leaves that decision open, because its stripes are broken into short bars that read along both axes, and the Jubi Customizer lets you choose the outline the pattern fills. In a rectangle or runner the rows travel with the length of the space; in a round or oval the bars meet a curved edge and read as a field; in a square there is no long side to lead the eye. Enter dimensions down to the inch and the courses re-flow to the new proportion, so a bedside piece and a full living room floor carry the same rhythm.

Palette works one layer at a time: two ground tones and two stripe tones, so custom colors can keep the Wine starting point and swap only the bars, or rebuild the whole piece around the colors a room already holds. Fewer contrasts calm the pattern; a sharper stripe tone wakes it up.

Hand-tufting holds whatever you decide. Artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through the foundation by hand, then carve the surface so each bar stands apart from its neighbor.
