Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Kinetics III is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

A Mid Century Modern Rug for an Awkward or Oversized Room

Open plans and long rooms defeat standard rug sizes: a 9 by 12 floats in a 20 foot living room, and a hallway that jogs needs a runner no shelf stocks. Because the Kinetics III grid gains panes as the rug grows, it can be made at 14 by 18 or 4 by 22 without the pattern losing its scale, and the lines give a wide floor a rhythm to read.

Measure the zone, not the room. Under a seating group, let the front legs of every piece sit on the rug and add a foot of margin; in a long room, two Kinetics III rugs of different sizes can divide dining from sitting while sharing one grid. Then set the palette: a tonal field and grid for calm, or custom colors that bring the band and stripe forward.

Hand-tufting keeps a line straight across any length. In our Bhadohi studio, New Zealand wool is set through the backing by hand and sheared level, so the grid stays crisp edge to edge.
