Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Rolling Tides is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Sizing an Abstract Rug to the Inch

Rolling Tides is sized from the room outward. Measure the space it will hold, a seating group or the open floor past a bed, and enter those numbers in the Jubi Customizer down to the inch. A freeform outline forgives a lot: with no straight edge to align with a wall or a baseboard, the rug can sit a few inches off center without looking misplaced, and it can be sized so the outer band clears the sofa legs by exactly the margin you want.

Think about the contours when you set the dimensions. On a small rug the bands sit close and the piece reads as a single carved object; on a large one they spread and the floor starts to read like a map. Choose a palette for each band, from pale to deep or tone on tone, and the custom colors you pick change how far the eye travels across the surface.

Hand-tufting gives the design its depth. In our Bhadohi studio, New Zealand wool is set through a backing by hand, then sheared and carved so each contour stands slightly proud of the next. See the wider Abstract Rugs collection, or compare designs across Customizable Rugs. Every Rolling Tides is made to the dimensions you enter.
