Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Each knot is tied by hand around the warp, then the pile is left long and combed rather than sheared close. The result is depth and softness underfoot, with the durability of a knotted foundation beneath it.

Solid Color is hand-knotted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing the One Wool for a Custom Shag Rug

A solid shag rug asks a single question, and the Jubi Customizer puts it first: which wool. With no motif to weigh, the color you choose becomes the entire design, so decide it in the room. Look at the floor and the largest upholstered piece, then settle whether the rug should sit close to them, a cream or taupe on pale oak, or against them, a navy or olive under linen. Remember that a 1.5 inch pile shows a color in two values at once, lighter on the tips and deeper in the shadow between strands, so a mid-tone wool reads richer than a small sample suggests and a dark one never reads as a flat block. If none of the 55 is right, the studio can match a custom color from more than 3,000.

Size and outline come next. Enter the dimensions to the inch, then choose a rectangle, a round or an oval; a rectangle drawn long and narrow serves as a runner. Because the field is one color, nothing re-flows or rescales as the outline changes, and the depth of pile stays constant at any proportion. Browse Shag Rugs, Solid Color Rugs and Hand-Knotted Rugs. Every piece is made to order, knotted in Bhadohi to the measurement and the single wool you set.
