Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Undula is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

A Scalloped Rug Sized for an Awkward or Oversized Space

Some rooms refuse a standard rug: a long sitting room with a pass-through on one side, or a loft where the seating floats far from any wall. Undula suits these because its outline is already irregular. Enter the width and length the space has in the Jubi Customizer, and the rings redraw to fit, so a 9 by 13 under a sectional and a 14 by 18 across an open-plan floor both read as the same design at rest rather than a small rug enlarged.

At large sizes the center field becomes the useful part, a plain expanse where a coffee table or a bed can sit, while the rings carry the color to the perimeter. Choose a palette that steps from pale at the center to deep at the edge to hold a big room together, or custom colors that pull a single accent from the walls into the outermost ring.

Hand-tufting makes the scale possible. In our Bhadohi studio the rings are set through a backing by hand in New Zealand wool, then carved so each one stands slightly above the next, the same at 6 feet or 16.
