Construction: Hand-knotted shag

Material: 100% New Zealand wool

Dimensions: Standard sizes available online, with fully custom sizes on request

Pile Height: 1"

Origin: Handmade in Bhadohi, India — a region renowned for fine carpet weaving

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen with use. Vacuum regularly on a high-pile setting. Clip loose ends with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills immediately with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning recommended.

See our rug care guide for more tips.

What Makes a Terracotta Boho Rug Work in a Room

A terracotta boho rug brings warmth without weight, and the loose diamond lattice on this one is what keeps it relaxed. Because the pattern is hand-drawn and a little irregular, it softens a room rather than organizing it, settling easily against rattan, raw wood, and low linen seating. The pale flecks scattered through the terracotta ground catch the light and keep the warm palette from going flat, so the rug feels layered even from across the room. Set it in a sunlit living room where the orange tones can deepen, or in a bedroom where the long shag pile is welcome underfoot first thing in the morning.

Hand-knotted shag is what gives the piece its depth. Each knot is tied by hand and left at an extended pile height, so the surface stands tall and soft and the lattice sinks gently into the fiber. That long pile is difficult to fake in a shorter weave, which is why the technique suits a design built on softness and movement.
