Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Ripple is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Sizing a Scalloped Rug to the Room, Down to the Inch

A rug whose outline moves asks for more thought about size than a plain rectangle. With Ripple, measure the floor you want covered, then think about where the scallops will fall: the waves are what you see from the doorway, so the widest point of each should clear the furniture legs by a few inches. In a living room, a length that lets the central column run the full span of the sofa keeps the eye moving end to end. In a bedroom, a rug long enough for the waves to emerge past the foot of the bed shows the design where it is seen most.

The Jubi Customizer takes dimensions to the inch, so there is no rounding to a stock size. Enter 7 feet 4 inches by 11 feet 2 inches and that is the rug that arrives, with the waves counted to fit. Palette works the same way: custom colors let a pale ground with dark waves read as graphic, or two close tones let the scallops register as texture more than pattern.

Hand-tufting in our Bhadohi studio allows the cut edge to follow the pattern, each wave set by hand and the outline trimmed along the last curve. Ripple appears in Blue Rugs and among our Customizable Rugs. Every one is tufted to your measurements.
