Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Riverdance is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing a Palette for an Abstract Rug in the Jubi Customizer

An abstract rug lives on its colors, and Riverdance gives you five places to decide them. In the Jubi Customizer the design is split into its painted parts: the border, the swirl, the ring, the highlights, and the center pool. Each takes its own wool from the 55 colors curated for online customization, so you can cool the rings to slate and ink around the orange center, or warm everything inside the olive border to rust and ochre. The Riverdance colorway is the starting point; the room is the better guide. Pull the center from an upholstery fabric and the ring from the wall, and the gesture settles in as if painted there. Custom colors apply per layer, and the preview recolors the whole composition as you go.

Then set the dimensions to the inch. The strokes re-flow to fill the new size, the center pool growing with the field and the rings keeping their loose, hand-drawn weight at any size.

Hand-tufting carries the result: artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a canvas foundation by hand, then carve each stroke into soft relief.
