Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Tubular is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

An Abstract Rug in Square, Runner, Round, or Oval

A design drawn from one continuous curve changes character with its outline. On a rectangle, Tubular's tube enters from one side and leaves by another, and the bands behind it read as a horizon. Make it a square and the form has room to double back, so the composition tightens toward the centre and works under a round table or in a square sitting area. As a runner the tube carries its bends along the length, a single slow line through a hallway.

Round and oval do something else again. The straight edges of the bands fall away and the curve of the tube starts to echo the curve of the rug, rounded forms inside a rounded frame, which suits an entry or a reading corner. Whatever outline you choose in the Jubi Customizer, you also set the palette, with custom colors for the tube and the bands around it.

Hand-tufting lets the surface change texture mid-field. In our Bhadohi studio the New Zealand wool is set through the backing by hand, then sheared and carved so one band stands ribbed and the next lies smooth, with the tube rounded over both.
