Riverdance is an abstract rug that turns the floor into a canvas, an oval pool of swirling brushstrokes at its heart ringed by loose, painterly bands that ripple outward. A warm burnt orange center sits inside a deep cobalt blue ring, edged with olive green and flecked with pale sky-blue strokes, so the surface reads as fluid and lively from every angle. The oval outline softens the gesture further, carrying the motion around an unbroken edge. Designed in New York and hand-tufted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from plush 100% New Zealand wool with a 0.75 inch pile that gives the carved strokes their soft, dimensional depth. Made to order in any size or color, including oversized, and any of over 1,200 wool colors, so the palette and proportions can match your room exactly. Each piece is ready in 2 to 3 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

Every Jubi rug is made from 100% New Zealand wool — chosen for its long staple fibers, natural softness, and durability. Its natural lanolin provides inherent stain resistance, and its ability to take dye produces rich, lasting color.

Some initial shedding is normal with natural wool and typically settles within the first few weeks of regular use.

Choosing an Abstract Rug in an Oval Shape

An abstract rug asks a room to relax its grid, and Riverdance answers that in an oval. Without corners to line up against walls or furniture, the shape leans into the painterly motion of the design, letting the swirling center and looped rings read as one continuous gesture. That makes it a natural choice under a round dining table, beside a bed where the curve can spill past the frame, or floated in a reading corner where it can sit on its own as art rather than as a backdrop.

Hand-tufting is what gives the brushstrokes their life. Working from the back of a stretched canvas, artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through the foundation by hand, then carve and shear the surface so each stroke stands in soft relief. That sculpting is hard to achieve in a flat weave, which is why the technique suits a design drawn from movement.
