Hand-knotted wool is structured into a grid of squares, each outlined with lighter lines that break through the dark ground. The repeated boxes give the surface order, while subtle variations in knotting keep it dimensional. Available in brown, black, green, navy, or red, it brings strength and texture through a simple geometric form.

New Zealand Wool

Every Jubi rug is made from 100% New Zealand wool — chosen for its long staple fibers, natural softness, and durability. Its natural lanolin provides inherent stain resistance, and its ability to take dye produces rich, lasting color.

Some initial shedding is normal with natural wool and typically settles within the first few weeks of regular use.

Sizing a Bold Grid Plaid Rug for a Room

A large-scale plaid rug like the Bold Grid Boxstep reads best when it has room to stretch. Because the squares are big and the footprint wide, the grid wants to sit under a full furniture group, so the pattern resolves across the open floor rather than getting cut off at the edges. In a living room, run it past the front legs of the sofa and the side chairs so the seating sits together on one plane; in a dining room, size it so the chairs stay on the rug when pulled out, and the big squares frame the table cleanly. The larger scale also suits open spaces with high ceilings, where a fine pattern could disappear but a bold one holds its own. The chocolate brown and cream palette keeps the bigger pattern calm rather than heavy, so the rug grounds the room without dominating it. Hand-knotting makes the scale possible: each knot is tied by hand, holding the fine double lines crisp even across the bigger squares, with a firm low pile that wears for years.
