Temple Steps is a geometric wool rug that stacks horizontal rounded bands like smooth, worn ledges, each tier drifting through its own ombre so the geometry feels layered and calm rather than rigid. The palette moves through pale silvery gray, mid grays, and deep charcoal, with one band easing into a muted purple and slate, giving the stack a soft, unexpected lift at its center. Because it is woven flat, the stepped pattern stays crisp and graphic underfoot. Designed in New York and hand-woven in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a low 0.25 inch pile that keeps the flatweave smooth, lightweight, and easy to live with. It is made to order in any size, including oversized, and any color, with 55 colors curated for online customization and more than 3,000 available through the studio, so the tiers can be scaled and recolored to suit your room. Each piece is ready in 5 to 6 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

Construction: Hand-woven

Material: 100% New Zealand wool

Dimensions: Standard sizes available online, with fully custom sizes on request

Thickness: ~0.25"

Origin: Handmade in Bhadohi, India — a region renowned for fine carpet weaving

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen with use. Vacuum regularly on a high-pile setting. Clip loose ends with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills immediately with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning recommended.

How a Geometric Rug Anchors a Calm, Modern Room

A geometric rug works by giving a room a quiet sense of order, and Temple Steps does it with rounded bands rather than hard angles. The stacked, pebble-smooth tiers read as structure without tension, so the piece grounds a space while keeping it relaxed. Run the bands across the width of a room to widen it visually, or align them with a sofa so the stack leads the eye toward a focal wall. The tonal grays, charcoal, and soft purple settle easily against pale wood, linen, and matte black, making the rug a steady base under modern, low-slung furniture.

Hand weaving is what keeps the geometry so clean. Worked flat on the loom by master artisans in Bhadohi, the New Zealand wool builds a smooth, low surface with no pile to blur the edges, so each band stays distinct and the ombre transitions read clearly. The flatweave is also light and reversible, which makes it practical in high-traffic rooms.
