Decide first which bands carry the energy and which hold it. Keep two or three fields saturated, a brick red and a cornflower blue for instance, and move the others toward charcoal, stone, or a near-navy that reads as shadow, and the rug turns calmer while the rhythm stays intact. Match the border to a band and the frame dissolves into the field; darken it and the whole set tightens.
