Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Contour Edge is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Color for a Solid Color Rug, Chosen for the Room

A solid color rug carries more of a room's mood than a patterned one, because there is nothing to look at except the color and its edge. With Contour Edge the choice is two colors, not one. The field sets the temperature of the floor, and the border decides how firmly the rug sits: a shade or two deeper, as in the starting colorways, it holds the field in place without announcing itself; from another family, it becomes a line the eye follows around the room.

Start with what the rug has to live next to. Pull the field from the largest soft surface in the room, a sofa or a bedspread, a step warmer or cooler so the two do not merge, then take the border from the darkest fixed element, the floor stain or a window frame. In the Jubi Customizer you choose custom colors for the edge and the inside separately and see them together before you order.

Hand-tufting in our Bhadohi studio gives a plain field its depth: the wool is set through the backing by hand and sheared level, so one color reads as a soft, even pile rather than a flat surface. Find Contour Edge among the Solid Color Rugs and the Customizable Rugs. Each one is made to the dimensions you enter.
