Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Gradino is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

A Mid Century Modern Rug for an Awkward or Oversized Room

Rooms rarely come in rug sizes. A long, narrow living room, an open plan with a kitchen island cutting into it, a loft wider than any standard size will cover: these spaces leave a gap at one end or a rug floating in the middle. Gradino suits them because its grid does not mind how many steps it holds. Enter the true dimensions of the space in the Jubi Customizer, 11 by 17 if that is what the floor measures, and the pattern fills them with complete rows, so an oversized rug reads as intended rather than as a standard size that nearly fits.

For an L-shaped room, the corner shape follows the floor plan; for a passage that opens into a seating area, a runner and a rectangle in the same custom colors carry one rhythm through both. Keep the ground deep and the motif pale and the repeat reads as architecture; reverse them and it turns playful.

Hand-tufting in our Bhadohi studio takes large dimensions in its stride: the wool is set by hand through a backing cut to the size of the rug, and the stepped edge of each motif is sheared clean. See the design among our Mid Century Modern Rugs and the other Customizable Rugs. Every Gradino is made to the numbers you enter.
