Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Honeycomb is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

A Hexagon Rug That Changes Its Outline: Round, Runner, Square, Oval

Honeycomb is a shape before it is a pattern. Its outline is drawn by the cells, which is why it floats well in a room: under a round or oval table the cluster reads as a single rounded form, bumping gently past the table's edge, and in an entry it fills the floor without insisting on a rectangle. In a hallway it becomes a longer stack of cells, a comb read as a path. Set to a round or square outline, the edge resolves to the shape you chose while the comb carries on inside it, cells meeting the border where they fall.

Because the Jubi Customizer accepts dimensions to the inch, the cluster can be sized to sit inside a seating group or run the length of a hall. Palette does the rest: custom colors for the cells and the rings let it read as one tone with a pale outline, or as a bold two-color graphic.

Hand-tufting in our Bhadohi studio is what lets the edge follow the cells: the wool is set through the backing by hand, the rings carved slightly proud of the centers, and the outline cut around the last hexagon.
