Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Inverse Stripe is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing a Palette for a Custom Striped Rug

A custom striped rug depends on contrast, and Inverse Stripe makes that the decision. The design has two colorable layers in the Jubi Customizer, the ground and the stripes, and the center seam swaps them: whatever you choose for the ground above becomes the stripe color below. Pick two wools far apart in value, a deep tone against a pale one, and the flip reads from across a room. Bring them closer, a mid-tone against one a shade lighter, and the seam softens into a shift you notice only up close. The Pink starting colorway sits at the bold end, raspberry against blush; you can work through the 55 colors curated for online customization, or ask the studio about custom colors from more than 3,000.

Size is the other variable. Enter dimensions to the inch for the rectangle and the stripes re-flow across the new width while the seam stays at the midpoint, so a bedside piece and a living room rug carry the same rhythm. Hand-tufting keeps those lines soft: artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a backing by hand and shear it level, so each stripe holds its edge. See our Striped Rugs collection. Every Jubi rug is made to order, so Inverse Stripe is tufted to the exact size and palette your room calls for.
