Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Kinetics I is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing an Outline for a Mid Century Modern Rug

Kinetics I is drawn as three upright panels, and the outline you choose in the Jubi Customizer decides how they read. As a square the panels sit in equal thirds and the piece becomes a composed block under a coffee table. As a runner the three columns narrow and run the length of a hall, three grids striping the floor side by side. In a round or an oval the seams cross the curve at two points and the arc crops the grids, which softens the geometry.

Think about where the seams fall. Under a dining table a square or rectangle keeps all three panels visible around the chairs, and in a round the two seams become the lines that center it. Color follows the same logic: choose a palette where the center is lightest and the rug reads as a window, or pick custom colors that darken one side so the composition leans.

Hand-tufting holds the lines. In our Bhadohi studio the design is set through a backing by hand in New Zealand wool, then sheared level so grid and field sit flush and each edge stays sharp.
