Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Kinetics II is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Recoloring a Mid Century Modern Rug, Layer by Layer

A mid century modern rug depends on its color relationships, and Kinetics II gives you four to set. The field blocks carry most of the surface and decide whether the piece reads bright or deep. The grid lines draw the structure; keep them dark against pale blocks for a crisp, graphic read, or bring them close in tone so the squares merge and the pulse softens. The stripes down certain columns add the sense of travel, and the small crosses are the accent you notice up close. Change one layer at a time in the Jubi Customizer and watch the field shift, with custom colors from 55 curated for online customization and more than 3,000 through the studio.

Pick a Runner and the columns march the length of a hall; pick a Round or an Arch and the courses re-flow to the curve. Hand-tufting then carves each square into relief, artisans in Bhadohi setting New Zealand wool through a taut foundation by hand and shearing the blocks to catch the light.
