Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Oasis is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing a Palette for a Custom Abstract Rug

An abstract rug carries its mood in color as much as in line, and Oasis makes that plain. The same six layers can read warm and grounded, with sand holding the field and olive carrying the arcs, or turn graphic when the arcs go dark and the ribbons go pale. The Jubi Customizer lets you work it out one layer at a time: set the ground first, since it covers the most floor, then the arcs, the single dark arc that gives the sweep its weight, the center it curls toward, the ribbons between, and the block. Custom colors from the 55 online wools preview against each other before you commit, which matters when bands sit this close.

Proportion is the other decision. Oasis is drawn for a rectangle, and as you enter dimensions the arcs re-flow across the new field so the gesture still reaches the edge. A longer rectangle extends the sweep; a squarer one brings the block and the center closer together.

Hand-tufting keeps every band crisp. Artisans in Bhadohi set New Zealand wool through a stretched foundation by hand, then carve the surface so each arc stands clean against its neighbor. See more in Abstract Rugs. Every Oasis is made to order, tufted to the size and palette your room calls for.
