Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Ridge Duo is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing Two Custom Colors for a Color Block Rug

Ridge Duo asks for two color decisions rather than a pattern's worth, and the second sets the mood of the room. Two tones of one color, a teal and a deeper teal, read as a single field with a shadow across it. Two colors that sit apart, a rust above a blue, make the horizon the rug's whole subject. Pull the upper tone from the walls or sofa so the top of the rug recedes, and give the lower field the color you want underfoot, where the vertical channels catch the light.

The proportion of the two fields holds at any dimensions, and the horizon stays level in every shape built in, so a round Ridge Duo divides into two arcs and a runner into two long passages of channel. Start from the Rust, Teal, or Blue colorway, or set both halves in custom colors.

Hand-tufting makes the ribs. In our Bhadohi studio, New Zealand wool is set through the backing by hand, then sheared and carved so each channel stands in relief, giving a near-solid rug texture without pattern. See the range in Color Block Rugs, or compare every design in Customizable Rugs. Each Ridge Duo is tufted to the dimensions you enter, in the two colors you choose.
