Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Halo Burst is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

More Designs to Customize

Customizing a Scalloped Rug to Fit Your Space

A scalloped rug is one of the most rewarding shapes to customize, because the wavy halo border and the open center can be tuned independently. Pick a deeper border for a frame that announces itself, or keep both tones close for a softer, tonal halo that simply hums at the edge. Because the outline curves rather than corners, it reads well in rooms with rounded furniture and works as easily under a table as it does floating in an open entry.

Hand-tufting makes that flexibility possible. Artisans set New Zealand wool through a stretched foundation by hand, then carve and shear the surface so each scallop stands cleanly against the field, holding the rounded rhythm at any scale. That sculpted definition is difficult to achieve in a flat weave, which is what makes the construction right for a design defined by its edge.
