Jubi’s original palette for this design. Every wool in it can be changed above.

Wool dyed to order for each palette

Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Each knot is tied by hand around the warp, then the pile is left long and combed rather than sheared close. The result is depth and softness underfoot, with the durability of a knotted foundation beneath it.

Sirocco is hand-knotted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Sizing a Custom Moroccan Shag Rug

A Moroccan shag rug is read through its lattice, and the scale of that lattice decides how the room feels. Sirocco holds each diamond at the size it was drawn, so the rug you specify does not stretch the pattern: a 6x9 under a sofa shows a few full diamonds with partial ones at the edges, while a large living room rug carries row after row. In the Jubi Customizer you can step the number of diamonds across, choosing a broad, graphic lattice or a finer one that reads closer to texture. Round and oval outlines take the same lattice inside a softer edge.

Color changes the character as much as scale. The burnt orange and cream of the starting colorway keeps the warmth of an old Moroccan rug, while a tonal pairing turns the lattice quiet and a dark ground lets it glow. The long pile does the rest: knotted by hand in Bhadohi and left deep, the wool lets each line feather at its edges, so the geometry stays soft in any palette.
