Material and Make

New Zealand wool, dyed to your palette.

Hand-tufted rugs are made by working yarn through a stretched canvas, then shearing and sculpting the pile by hand. The result is a dense, soft surface with clean edges to every shape, and the freedom to carve texture into the design.

Wavy Zig Zag is hand-tufted to order in Jubi’s Bhadohi studio. Its 100% New Zealand wool is dyed to the palette you choose, then the finished rug is bound and checked by hand before it ships.

Choosing Chevron Rug Colors for Your Light, Floor, and Walls

A two-color design puts every decision on the pair. Zig Zag's single ribbon on a solid ground is the clearest case: whichever color you give the ground becomes most of the floor, and whichever you give the ribbon becomes the gesture the room remembers. Start with the light. North-facing rooms cool a palette, so a warm cream or oat ribbon keeps its glow where a pure white would turn grey; sun-filled rooms can take a cooler, sharper contrast.

Then the floor and walls. On pale oak or white-painted boards the Black and Cream starting colorway sits as a drawn line; on dark walnut, try reversing the weight and setting a dark ribbon on a light ground so the rug lifts off the floor rather than sinking into it. Custom colors for both layers are set in the Jubi Customizer, so the ground can match a wall tone and the ribbon can pick up a chair or a frame.

Hand-tufting in our Bhadohi studio is what lets the ribbon's edge stay clean through all those curves: the wool is set by hand and carved along the line, so the switchbacks read as one stroke.
