Frequently Asked Questions

What does the bespoke process look like?

It starts with your vision — a color palette, a sketch, a room photo, or even just an idea. Our studio develops the concept, creates a design proof for your approval, and coordinates sampling if needed. Once approved, your rug is handwoven by master artisans in Bhadohi, India.

Can I modify an existing Jubi design instead of starting from scratch?

Yes. Any design in our collection can be adapted — different colors, adjusted proportions, custom borders, or a new size. For simple modifications like color or size changes, our online customizer lets you preview instantly. For more complex changes, our studio handles it directly.

What sizes and shapes can you make?

Any. From small accent rugs to oversized installations, there's no limit on dimensions. We regularly produce runners, rounds, ovals, and irregular shapes. Whatever your project requires, we can make it.

Can I request colors not shown on your website?

Yes. Our online customizer features a curated selection of our most popular shades, but our full palette includes thousands of colors. We can match Pantone references, fabric swatches, or paint samples — contact our studio and we'll find the exact shade.

Can I see samples before committing?

Yes. We can provide samples so you can evaluate color, texture, and wool quality before production begins. Email hello@shop-jubi.com to request samples.

How long does a bespoke order take?

It depends on complexity. Simple modifications typically take 3-6 weeks. Fully original designs vary based on scope, sampling, and revisions — our studio confirms your timeline once the project is scoped.

Is there a minimum order for bespoke rugs?

No. We create single pieces as well as multi-rug installations for hospitality and commercial projects.

What is the return policy on bespoke orders?

Bespoke rugs are made to your specifications and are final sale. You'll review samples and approve design proofs before production begins to ensure everything is exactly right.

For projects that require something beyond a standard size or color change, Jubi's studio works directly with you to design and produce a rug built entirely around your brief. Original compositions. Non-standard shapes. Commercial and hospitality installations. Trade and designer projects. Logo and branded rugs. If what you need doesn't exist in any catalog, this is where it gets made.

Every bespoke rug is handwoven in premium New Zealand wool by master artisans in Bhadohi, India — the same construction and material quality as Jubi's ready-made collection, applied to a specification that is entirely yours.

What Bespoke Covers

Original Design Commissions

If you have a design concept — a pattern, a palette, a reference image, a mood — our studio develops it into a production-ready design and produces it in handwoven wool. We work with interior designers, architects, and individual clients who want a floor covering that exists nowhere else. The brief can be as defined or as open as you bring it: some clients arrive with a fully specified design; others arrive with a room and a direction.

Custom Dimensions and Non-Standard Shapes

Stairs, alcoves, L-shaped rooms, rooms with architectural irregularities, spaces where standard rectangles don't work — bespoke handles any footprint. We produce rugs in custom dimensions without upper limits, irregular silhouettes cut to your floor plan, shaped perimeters to suit architectural features, and stair runners in non-standard widths and lengths. If you can measure it, we can make it.

Commercial and Hospitality Projects

Hotels, restaurants, offices, retail environments — commercial installations have requirements that go beyond residential rug orders: durability specifications, large-format single pieces or coordinated multi-room installations, contract-grade construction, and project timelines that need to be managed alongside other trades. Jubi has produced bespoke rugs for commercial clients across hospitality and commercial interior sectors. The portfolio includes examples of completed commercial projects.

Logo and Branded Rugs

Custom logo rugs for commercial spaces, branded entrance rugs for hotels and corporate offices, and event-specific pieces for temporary installations. All handwoven — not printed or tufted from a digital file. A handwoven logo rug in premium wool reads as a material quality statement that printed alternatives don't achieve.

Trade and Designer Projects

Interior designers and architects working on residential or commercial projects can access bespoke services through the Jubi trade program, which provides dedicated pricing, priority scheduling, and direct studio access for design consultation. If your project involves multiple pieces, coordinated colorways across rooms, or a brief that requires ongoing design dialogue, the trade program is the right framework.

How the Bespoke Process Works

Every bespoke engagement begins with a conversation. You tell us about the space, the brief, the timeline, and the budget. We confirm what's achievable, outline the design process, and provide a production estimate. From there, the process is collaborative: design development rounds, material and colorway samples where relevant, production, quality review, and delivery.

Lead times vary by project complexity. Straightforward commissions — a custom size and color outside the customizer's range, or a design modification to an existing piece — typically complete in 8–10 weeks. Original design commissions with multiple development rounds require more time, typically 12–16 weeks. Large commercial installations are scoped individually. All lead times are confirmed before production begins.

Is Bespoke Right for Your Project?

Bespoke is the right path when the design itself needs to change, when the shape is non-standard, or when the project scale or complexity requires direct studio involvement. If you're working with a design that already exists in Jubi's collection and you need it in a different size or available color, the online customizer is faster and doesn't require a consultation. If you're not sure which path fits your project, the form below is a good place to start — describe what you need and we'll tell you which route makes sense.

Handwoven Construction in a Bespoke Context

A commissioned rug is a long-term investment — made for a specific space, to a specific brief, and expected to hold that quality for years. Jubi's bespoke rugs are produced using the same hand-knotted and hand-tufted construction as the ready-made collection, by the same master artisans in Bhadohi, India. Both methods involve genuine craft: in hand-knotting, each knot is tied individually by hand; in hand-tufting, each tuft is set by an artisan working across the design with precision and skill developed over years of practice. The result in either case is a piece where the construction is visible in the depth of the pile, the integrity of the pattern, and the way the surface develops character with use.

Premium New Zealand wool holds deep dye with dimensional variation, holds pile shape under sustained use, and develops a patina over years that makes the rug look more considered rather than less. For a piece made specifically for a space and a brief, that longevity is part of the value.
