This sage shag rug holds a soft grey-green, a color with as much grey in it as green, which is what lets it behave like a neutral while still being a color. The long pile spreads it across a range: the tips read pale and dusty where light lands, and the wool between them settles toward a deeper forest tone, so the field looks planted rather than painted. Natural fringe at each end gives it a plain, undyed border. Designed in New York and hand-knotted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a deep 1.5 inch pile that stays soft and upright underfoot. Made to order in any size, so the color can carry a whole room or soften a single corner. Each rug is ready in 5 to 6 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

Construction: Hand-knotted shag

Material: 100% New Zealand wool

Dimensions: Standard sizes available online, with fully custom sizes on request

Pile Height: 1"

Origin: Handmade in Bhadohi, India — a region renowned for fine carpet weaving

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen with use. Vacuum regularly on a high-pile setting. Clip loose ends with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills immediately with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning recommended.

See our rug care guide for more tips.

Shipping: Knotted shag rugs are handmade to order and typically ship within 5–6 weeks. Once dispatched, delivery takes 3–5 business days via DHL Express. We offer complimentary worldwide shipping on all rugs.

Our Picks for You

Bringing Green Into a Room Through the Floor

Green is the easiest color to live with and the hardest to place, because most greens want to be the brightest thing in the room. A greyed sage does not. It reads as a soft neutral from across a space and only shows itself as green up close, which is exactly the behaviour you want underfoot, where a color has to hold a lot of floor without demanding attention.

It also pairs unusually widely. Sage sits naturally with oak, cane and unbleached linen, holds its own against black and charcoal, and does something particular with terracotta and clay, warming both without clashing. Beside real plants it reads as a continuation rather than a competitor.

Each rug is knotted by hand in Bhadohi and left at a long pile, which is what gives the color its two registers and the surface its body. See more in our Shag Rugs and Green Rugs collections, or browse the Solid Color Rugs range. Every Jubi rug is made to order, so this sage can be woven to the exact size your room needs.
