This yellow shag rug holds a soft, buttery tone rather than a bright one, and the pile is what keeps it there. Light collects on the tips of the long wool and reads pale, almost cream in strong sun, while the shadow between the strands pulls the same dye toward wheat and warm gold. The result is a yellow with weight to it, closer to raw honey than to lemon, which is what lets it sit in a room all year instead of reading seasonal. Natural fringe at each end gives the field a plain, undyed edge. Designed in New York and hand-knotted in Bhadohi, India, it is made from 100% New Zealand wool with a deep 1.5 inch pile that stays soft and full underfoot. Made to order in any size, so the color can warm a whole floor or brighten a single corner. Each rug is ready in 5 to 6 weeks and ships free worldwide, duties included.

Construction: Hand-knotted shag

Material: 100% New Zealand wool

Dimensions: Standard sizes available online, with fully custom sizes on request

Pile Height: 1"

Origin: Handmade in Bhadohi, India — a region renowned for fine carpet weaving

New Zealand wool is naturally stain-resistant and springs back underfoot — footprints and furniture marks lift rather than settling in. It also takes dye deeply, which is what gives the colors their depth. Some initial shedding is normal and settles within the first few weeks. Why New Zealand wool →

Care: Shedding is normal and will lessen with use. Vacuum regularly on a high-pile setting. Clip loose ends with scissors (do not pull). Rotate periodically for even wear. Blot spills immediately with a clean, white cloth (do not rub). Professional cleaning recommended.

See our rug care guide for more tips.

Shipping: Knotted shag rugs are handmade to order and typically ship within 5–6 weeks. Once dispatched, delivery takes 3–5 business days via DHL Express. We offer complimentary worldwide shipping on all rugs.

Returns: Rugs may be returned within 15 days of delivery with a 15% restocking fee. Custom rugs are final sale, except in cases of shipping damage. See our return policy for full details.

Where a Yellow Rug Actually Works

Yellow is the color people most often want and most often hesitate over, and the hesitation is usually about brightness. A muted, wheat-leaning yellow avoids that, and a deep pile mutes it further, because most of the surface you see is shadow between strands rather than the dye itself.

It does its best work in rooms that need warmth rather than color: a north-facing study, a hallway with no natural light, a bedroom with pale walls. It sits comfortably with cream, oak and rattan, and it turns unexpectedly modern against charcoal and black. In a child's room it reads cheerful without going primary.

Each rug is tied knot by knot around a cotton foundation in Bhadohi, then left long rather than clipped short. The extra wool is what gives the color its two registers, bright at the surface and deep underneath. Browse our Shag Rugs and Yellow Rugs collections, or see the wider Solid Color Rugs range. Every Jubi rug is made to order, so this yellow can be woven to the exact size your room needs.
